Still sick. Ick. All weekend I have been off my game. No fun. My head and chest are in a battle. I do not care who the victor is as long as I start to feel better. My sleep schedule is off. My joie de vivre is being messed with. I am deep in blanket cave mode just trying to feel like ME. I am hopeful that all the rest and fluids and good nourishing foods will work their course.
I hope you had a restful, healthy, and fun weekend! What are your Thanksgiving plans? What are you cooking? Are you headed out of town? Please share your recipes! I am looking for inspiration as I head into this week!

And then I got sick. Well, okay, so I knew that it was coming. I could feel the itchy throat starting back a few days ago. And the tiredness. The real weary kind of tiredness where you fall asleep on the couch watching TV because your eyes betray you.
And my ears popping in strange ways. And then the sinus stuffiness with annoying headache. I kind of figured that if I ignored my body entirely and pressed on, I would be fine. Besides, I had too much to do! No time to be ill.
Until I woke up today and felt 100% miserable. And there was my head/chest sinusy cold whateverness ready to greet me. Hug me tight like we were long-lost friends. Long-lost clingy friends with a lot of catching up to do.
Okay! Okay! I get it. I need to give my body and being some much-needed TLC. Rest. Fluids. Good nourishing foods. Downtime. So I can get better. So I can bring some balance back into my days. You can’t ignore yourself forever for the sake of work. And you can’t work so hard that you forget to play nice.

Well, sheesh. I haven’t posted in a week and a day! I have kinda been caught up in work. And raking. I know, I know… does it get any more exciting than work and raking? I am moving in a crazy whirlwind right now and just trying to go with the flow.
I do have some more fun fall pics to show… coming soon. And I have been having a really good past several days. My outlook seems lighter. I feel more resilient. Does some of it have to do with the slightly warmer temps we’ve had lately in the 50s and 60s? Probably.
Anyway, I just wanted to check in. Usually Tuesdays are tough days. So I wanted to take a moment to be present with my non-work self. And say Hi!
How is your week going? What’s new in your corner of the world?

Can you believe that Daylight Savings is here? Yesterday was such an odd day for us, getting used to the time change. I found myself waking up earlier than usual, and not quite sure if the time change had anything to do with it? I was suddenly active in the kitchen, making a green bean casserole. I took a nap. I visited Craig’s family and my nephews.
But then it was quite hard to suck up the darkness by 5 p.m. factor. There was a gorgeous sunset yesterday, but suddenly everything started to speed up and seemed to be happening way too fast. The day felt over so quickly. Not enough time to fit in all the chores and family visiting and Sunday goodness.
And then it was dark. Really dark. And then it got really cold. And windy.
And then, if you can believe it, it started to rain. Not just any rain, but a FREEZING RAIN. And sleet. On Daylight Savings! Of all the nerve.
Mother nature just started laughing at us. I could hear this strange pinging sound against the windows, and a thrashing noise against the leaves outside littering the yard. The sound of little bits of ice pelting the leaves and ground. Over and over. Craig and I ran outside to figure out what was going on. It was raining ice! Everywhere!
I suppose this is an ever-so-gentle preview of what’s in store. Hold onto your hats, because the winter darkness and weather are coming.

Baby, it’s starting to get real cold outside. I have woken up to more than one day this week where the temps are below freezing. I find myself running downstairs to check the thermometer just to see. And then I gasp in disbelief at the downright chilly temps outside (and in!)
